Ruling on the things that lead to zina – kissing, touching and being alone together

Image
Question What is the ruling on one who is intimate with women but does not commit zina, i.e. kissing etc?. Answer Praise be to Allaah. Zina (adultery, fornication) does not refer only to penetration, rather there is the zina of the hand, which is touching that which is forbidden, and the zina of the eyes, which is looking at that which is forbidden, even though zina that is committed with the private parts, is the zina which is punishable with the hadd punishment. It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Allaah has decreed for every son of Adam his share of zina, which he will inevitably commit. The zina of the eyes is looking, the zina of the tongue is speaking, one may wish and desire, and the private parts confirm that or deny it.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5889; Muslim, 2657. It is not permissible for the Muslim to long for the things that lead to zina, such as kissing, being alone, touching and looking, f...

The basic principle is that zina is a greater sin than gambling and drinking alcohol

Question I would like to know which sin is greater and more serious: zina, drinking alcohol or gambling?. Answer Praise be to Allaah. The texts of the Qur'aan and Sunnah indicate that zina, alcohol and gambling are major sins. Allah says (interpretation of the meaning): “O you who believe! Intoxicants (all kinds of alcoholic drinks), and gambling, and Al‑Ansaab (stone altars for sacrifices to idols etc) and Al‑Azlaam (arrows for seeking luck or decision) are an abomination of Shaytaan’s (Satan’s) handiwork. So avoid (strictly all) that (abomination) in order that you may be successful” [al-Maa’idah 5:90] “And come not near to unlawful sex. Verily, it is a Faahishah (i.e. anything that transgresses its limits: a great sin), and an evil way that leads one to hell unless Allaah forgives him” [al-Isra’ 17:32]. Al-Bukhaari narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “No adulterer is a b...

He committed zina with a woman then incited her to get divorced from her husband

Image
Question One of my friend had committed zina with a married woman several times and then he promised her that if she gets divorced from her husband he will marry her. The woman took the divorce and got married to my friend, both of them had repented to Allah for the Zina committed and they have two children also. Recently he read your question and answer number 201510 where it is mentioned that If a person turns a woman against her husband and spoils her for him so that she leaves him, then he marries her, his marriage is not valid and they must be separated, according to the view favoured by Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him). This is also the view of the Maalikis. Now both of them are crying and repenting to Allah for their gravest sin. Now what should they do? If they go separate with each other, what would happen to their children. Please guide him for the sake of Allah. He is the follower of Hanafi thoughts. Answer Praise be to Allah. Firstly: ...
