Is there a concession allowing one who is newly married not to pray in congregation?

Image
Question Is it true that the Sunnah allows one who is newly married to pray at home during the first week of marriage and not take part in congregational prayers? What is the evidence for that?. Answer Praise be to Allaah. There is a great deal of evidence which shows that it is obligatory for men to pray in congregation as you will see discussed in detail in the answer to question no. 120. We do not know of any evidence that suggests that a newly married man is allowed not to pray in congregation, apart from a few fuqaha’ who stated that the one who is waiting for his bride to be brought to him is excused from praying in congregation. Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him) was asked about his opinion on this and he said: We think that the views of the scholars may include those that are wrong and those that are right. What is essential is to refer to the Qur’aan and Sunnah. Secondly: The scholars who said this were speaking about something that they used...

If a woman’s nifaas ends before forty days, she should do ghusl and pray and fast

Question My wife gave birth around the 15th of Sha’baan. Is it permissible for her to pray, fast, do ‘umrah, read Qur’aan and do all other duties prescribed in Islam when the nifaas (post-partum bleeding) stops and she is sure of that, or should she wait for 40 days as some people say?. Answer Praise be to Allaah. The majority of scholars, including the four imams, are of the view that there is no minimum limit for nifaas. Whenever a woman becomes pure from nifaas, she has to do ghusl and pray and fast, even if that is before forty days have passed since the birth. Because no precise definition has been narrated in sharee’ah with regard to the minimum length of nifaas, so the matter should be based on experience, which shows that nifaas may be very short or it may be long. - Ibn Qudaamah in al-Mughni, 1/428. Some of the scholars narrated that there was consensus on this point. Al-Tirmidhi (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: The scholars among the companions of the Prophet ...

It is better for a woman to pray in her house than in the mosque

Question What is the ruling on sisters making salah in public?. Answer Praise be to Allaah. Woman should be protected and concealed from men as much as her guardian can do that. The Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) preferred for women to pray in their houses and said that their reward for doing so is greater than their reward for praying in the mosque. It was narrated from ‘Abd-Allaah ibn Mas’ood that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “A woman’s prayer in her room is better than her prayer in her courtyard, and her prayer in her cabinet is better than her prayer in her room.” (Narrated by Abu Dawood, 570; al-Tirmidhi, 1173. This hadeeth was classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Targheeb wa’l-Tarheeb, 1/136). “Her room” refers to a woman’s own room in the house, and “her courtyard” refers to the central area (in a traditional Arabic house), off which all the rooms of the house open. A cabinet is like a small room i...

Is it permissible for him to ask Allaah for the girl who is edited to let her be the bride in Paradise?

Image
Question The daughter of my maternal uncle died in an accident, and I was intending to propose marriage to her. Is it permissible to pray to Allaah to make her my bride in Paradise, or is this overstepping the mark in du’aa’? May Allaah reward you with good. Answer Praise be to Allaah. First of all, we ask Allaah to encompass that girl with His mercy, and to admit her to His Paradise, and to bless her family and all her relatives with patience and consolation. We advise you to treat her parents kindly, and help them to overcome their trial. With regard to yourself, we advise you to accept the decree of Allaah and to have faith that all things are in His hand (?), and that He controls all things in this universe, and He has great wisdom and He cannot questioned as to what He does, while they will be questioned. With regard to your question about praying that this girl will be your wife in Paradise, there is no reason why you should not do that, if Allaah wills, and you ma...
